DE-VAU-GE and Emons Cargo 2WIN achieved almost 1.5 million kilograms of CO2 savings

DE-VAU-GE is proud to announce that, in cooperation with our long-standing partner Emons Cargo 2WIN – Europe’s largest freight company for full truck loads with double-deck trailers – we were able to save almost 1.5 million kilograms of CO2 in 2023.*1

The achievement is the result of a continuous improvement program on optimizing cubefill for FTL loads in 2WIN trailers toward the United Kingdom from our locations in Lüneburg and Tangermünde.

2WIN are double-deck trailers that can transport up to 54 Euro pallets in a single journey, which means a 64% increase in freight volume compared to standard trailers.

The program began with the optimization of the basic pallet dimensions to 120x80x180(cm) in order to maximize the quantity of goods per pallet and at the same time adapt them ideally to the conditions of the 2WIN double-deck trailers.

Emons Cargo invested in another 40 new semi-trailers in order to use only these 2WINs with a full loading capacity of 54 pallets for DE-VAU-GE deliveries in future, thereby not only maximizing the quantity of goods per pallet, but also optimizing the number of pallets per journey.

Emons Cargo 2WIN and DE-VAU-GE are working together on several new projects to further reduce CO2 emissions, including further test runs in the use of e-trucks to serve our customers’ routes in the future.

The use of bio-LNG-powered tractor units and the use of solar panels on the roofs of most 2WIN trailers are already further reducing CO2 emissions today.

*1 The data was calculated for two transport routes, with regular consumption of diesel fuel, transit without congestion or customs stops and crossing via Calais-Folkstone towards the UK. The calculation tool used was BigMile, an ISO 14083-certified online software for calculating and reporting transport-related CO2 emissions.
